What is skin health care?
Skin health care is the daily foundation of any plan for your skin. It covers cleansing, treatment products, moisturising and sun protection, chosen for your skin rather than for a trend.
The practice stocks two medical-grade skincare ranges, Synergie Skin and Hydrinity. Dr Marie-Claire selects products after she has assessed your skin, your history and your goals.
Individual results vary. Skincare works gradually, and most changes are judged over weeks and months rather than days.

How does it work?
Dr Marie-Claire begins with an assessment of your skin, including your skin type, any sensitivity, your medical history and the products you already use.
From this she builds a simple daily regimen, with clear steps for morning and evening. A plan with fewer steps that you follow is more useful than a long routine that you do not.
Your regimen is reviewed over time. Products may be changed as your skin responds, as the seasons change, or as your goals change.
- An assessment of your skin and your current routine.
- A tailored daily regimen, with products chosen for your skin.
- Daily sun protection, which supports every other part of your plan.
- Preparation before laser treatment, and aftercare once treatment is complete.
- Review over time, with changes made as your skin responds.
Who is it for?
Skin health care is suitable to consider for most adults, whether or not you are planning any other treatment. It may be a useful starting point if your skin is sensitive, uneven in tone or textured.
If you are planning laser treatment, a tailored regimen is a required part of that plan, both before and after treatment. Dr Marie-Claire will explain which products to use and when.
Some products may not be suitable, or may need to be paused, in certain situations. These include pregnancy or breastfeeding, a known allergy or sensitivity to an ingredient, an active skin infection, and certain prescription medications. Dr Marie-Claire will review these with you at consultation, and a patch test may be advised for sensitive skin.
What to expect
Your skin is assessed before any products are recommended, as part of a consultation with Dr Marie-Claire.
- Bring the products you currently use, or a list of them.
- Tell Dr Marie-Claire about any allergies, medications or past skin reactions.
- Discuss what you would like to address, and how much time you would like to spend on a routine.
Timelines and recovery vary between individuals. Individual results vary.
You receive a written regimen that sets out what to use, in what order, and when to start.
- Introduce new products as directed, because starting too many at once can irritate the skin.
- Use sun protection every morning.
- Some mild dryness or sensitivity can occur as your skin adjusts, and you can contact the practice about this.
Timelines and recovery vary between individuals. Individual results vary.
Your regimen is reviewed over time, since skin changes slowly and responds differently from person to person.
- Progress is judged over weeks and months.
- Products are adjusted, added or removed as needed.
- Your regimen is updated if you begin laser treatment.
Timelines and recovery vary between individuals. Individual results vary.
Frequently asked questions
What does a skin health consultation include?
Dr Marie-Claire reviews your skin, your medical history, your current products and your goals. She then sets out a daily regimen in writing, including sun protection, and explains when to start each product. The regimen is reviewed over time. A consultation in St Kilda is also where she discusses whether other treatments may be worth considering.
What is Synergie Skin?
Synergie Skin is an Australian skincare brand stocked by the practice. Its products include cleansers, treatment serums, moisturisers and sun protection. Dr Marie-Claire recommends products only after assessing your skin, and not every product suits every person. Individual results vary, and you can ask about the ingredients in anything she suggests.
How long does skincare take to work?
Skincare works gradually. Many people notice changes in comfort or texture within a few weeks, while changes in tone or redness usually take longer. Individual results vary, and consistent daily sun protection supports every other step. Dr Marie-Claire reviews your skin over time and adjusts your regimen as it responds.
Is a skincare regimen needed before and after laser?
Yes. A tailored regimen is a required part of any laser treatment plan at the practice. Preparing the skin beforehand and caring for it afterwards helps it to heal and to stay protected. Dr Marie-Claire explains which products to use, when to start and how to follow the regimen for your skin.
Where can I buy the recommended products?
Recommended products can be purchased online through the practice's skincare page, using the practice's referral link. The practice receives a referral rebate on purchases made through that link. You are never required to buy products in order to have a consultation, and Dr Marie-Claire will explain what she recommends and why.
